Refrigeration Engineer - Field Service, £17 an hour + Company Van

40 hours a week, 5 day week

Main purpose of job:

As a Transport Refrigeration Engineer, you will be responsible for conducting routine maintenance, repairs, and troubleshooting on refrigerated vehicles to ensure optimal performance and longevity. Your primary objective is to diagnose and repair all makes and models of refrigeration units also including electrical, lining, and mechanical components, while maintaining accurate records of work performed and effectively communicating with customers onsite.

Your role is essential in ensuring that day-to-day activities are conducted in a safe, efficient, and smooth-running environment. You will provide preventative maintenance, repairs, and technical services, upholding the highest standards of quality and reliability in refrigeration systems for all vehicles.

Main duties
Your role will be Inspecting, servicing and diagnosing refrigeration systems to identify issues affecting performance and cooling or heating efficiency.
Repair and replace a range of all makes and models including components not limited to compressors, condensers, evaporators, and other refrigeration systems to restore optimal functionality.

Charge refrigeration systems with the appropriate amount of refrigerant, ensuring proper pressure and cooling levels.
Test and adjust system components, including temperature and pressure settings, to achieve and maintain optimal performance standards.
Perform preventative maintenance on refrigeration systems to minimize breakdowns and extend system life, conducting regular inspections and servicing as needed including Calibration.

Ability to install new refrigeration systems in vehicles, ensuring proper integration and functionality with existing vehicle components.
Troubleshoot electrical and electronic components related to refrigeration systems, including parking sensors, monitoring systems and control systems, to address and resolve issues.
Record accurate paperwork of maintenance, calibration and repairs performed, documenting work completed, parts used, and any follow-up recommendations.
Liaise with Department heads to ensure timely and accurate ordering of necessary parts and equipment for repairs and servicing.
Accurately and efficiently complete all paperwork and data required for service and repair tasks, including timesheets, vehicle check sheets, and service reports.
Manage the usage relevant of the management system, ensuring all jobs are completed on time, and accurate records are kept up to date.

Collaborate closely with on-site customers adhering to health and safety policies and specific to their procedures.
Review and maintain supplies of equipment and spares to ensure stock is stock is up to date to ensure first time fixes.
Provide on-call assistance when required, in accordance with the department's on-call roster, to address motor transport breakdowns and urgent repair needs.

Undertake driving duties on and off-site for motor transport breakdowns.
