The are many great things about July; summer is in full effect, the days are long and warm, the football season is only a month away and most importantly its when we co-host our annual golf event with First Logistics!
This year would be the 7th annual golf event that we have put on, and the awesome ladies and gents at Bolton Old Links Golf Club agreed to let us take over their fantastic course for the day again.
We hosted 69 golfers and guests from 25 different Engineering, Logistics, Manufacturing and Tech companies to thank them for their continued business. Following a top-notch breakfast, our four-ball groups began teeing off from 9 am sharp. Like most British summer days it started a bit grey and breezy, but the sun eventually broke through in time for the mid round 9th hole BBQ, and there were some phenomenal tan/sunburn lines on show in the bar post round.
As the groups progressed around the stunning 18 hole course, there were a few challenges and competitions for them to take part in. These included; a simulated closest to the pin in the pro shop's simulator, a real closest to the pin on the fourth hole, Longest drive on the 9th an on the 17th hole our Pro Golfer, the talented Lucy Goddard hosted the "Beat The Pro" competition.
Lucy, from Hertfordshire, turned pro in 2015 before completing Q-School and joining the Ladies European Tour for 2017 if you would like to find out more about her please check out this cracking interview she did with lady-golfer.com here.
The last group got back to the clubhouse at around 4 pm and headed straight to the bar for some well deserved cold beverages before the evening's awards dinner.
After a cracking three course meal, it was time to hand out the awards to winners (and losers) of the day.
- Dan Pilkington won closest to the pin in the Simulator
- Lee Corns took the prize for nearest to the pin
- Chris Seargent had the longest drive of the day
- Ian Whalley was the lucky winner of our Beat the Pro challenge; he'll be off for breakfast and a round of golf with Lucy at Hanbury Manor Marriott Hotel & Country Club.
- Our Wooden Spoon "prize" went to Mark Higginbottom and Paul Hardy.
- The overall runners up were Daryll Hitchin and Ian Hardman.
Employment Solutions and First Logistics would like to personally thank everyone who took part in the event and hope to see everyone again next year.
