In this dynamic Buyer role, you will support a range of purchasing and procurement activities, working closely with cross-functional teams within an Engineering & Manufacturing environment to ensure timely, cost-effective, and high-quality sourcing for projects. This position requires excellent organisational skills, proactive problem-solving, and a collaborative approach to ensure optimal supply chain performance. Familiarity with systems like Sage 200 and a background in supplier negotiations are desirable.

Who This Job Would Suit
This role would suit a highly organised individual with experience in procurement or supply chain management, preferably as an Engineering Buyer, who thrives in a fast-paced environment. Ideal candidates will possess strong negotiation skills, a proactive mindset, and the ability to prioritise competing demands. An excellent communicator, you will be comfortable collaborating across departments and liaising with external suppliers to ensure project success.

Key Responsibilities

  • Utilise Sage 200 to place and track orders, ensuring accurate and timely procurement processes.
  • Implement cost-saving initiatives by sourcing competitive quotes and selecting the most suitable suppliers.
  • Keep Project Leads informed of any delays or lead-time issues, ensuring clear communication on order statuses.
  • Collaborate with the Project Team and Operations Manager to align on order progress and address potential issues.
  • Process spares orders and purchase orders, including handling delivery logistics and packaging for dispatch.

Requirements:

  • Proven experience as a Buyer (preferably an Engineering Buyer).
  • Experience using SAGE 200 is highly advantageous
  • Strong negotiation and supplier management skills

Salary: £26k - £28k (dependent on experience)
Working Hours: 0800-1600 (Mon-Thurs), 0800-1500 (Fri)
