About Anord Mardix
Anord Mardix is a global manufacturer of specialist switchgear and control panel systems for facilities that hold huge amounts of data. These pieces of equipment range in size from a double fridge to a double garage and play the role of the nervous system in a building, controlling the airflow, the temperature and the flow of power through servers among other things.
It provides this equipment to giants in the data world, including Facebook, Google, Amazon and many large financial institutions.
The challenge
Based in Kendal, Cumbria, the company employs over 300 people and is growing. In 2017, due to increased orders and annual growth within the business, the directors made the decision to build a manufacturing and assembly 120,000 square-foot facility next to the M65 in Blackburn, Lancashire.
As a result, the company needed a locally-based, North West engineering and manufacturing specialist recruitment company to assist them with finding and placing people in manning the facility.
Employment Solutions were hired to recruit a selection of teams for the new site. Since December 2017, we sourced and placed over 70 candidates. The talent has included skilled mechanical and electrical fitters and semi-skilled assembly operatives. In addition, on the white-collar side, we arranged the placement of several design engineers, and design and quality engineers.
The future
Since starting its journey with us, Anord Mardix has gone on to open a dedicated fabrication facility in Bamber Bridge, Lancashire. We have placed over 30 candidates at this new site, predominately blue-collar talent such as machine operatives, welders and grinders.
More recently, since the Covid-19 outbreak, the company’s order book has grown significantly and we have continued to support the recruitment during this time to keep up with demand.
